After the meeting was over, we jumped on a seaplane to Friday Harbor for a couple of days. I felt very adventurous in taking the seaplane instead of the fer ry and was re- warded with amazing views of the San Juan Islands and Mount Rainier. We stayed at the Friday Harbor House Hotel and en- joyed walking into town to enjoy shopping, dining and the marina. The city also has a shuttle service that will take you all over the island, including a stop at a lav- ender farm. We booked a whale-watching char ter and saw a pod of whales, bald eagles, sea lions and seals. It was nature at its best.
